It's bad hygiene yes, a massive dollop of laziness and a total disregard of personal respect. He's basically saying that those living conditions are suitable for him to live in.

It is, I just can't relate to people like that. There must be something about hot soapy water and a strong disinfectant in the bible....in fact I'm almost positive it says that the main man himself was quite found of the odd bubble bath now and then.....you know Leviticus 5.25 or something
