After something of a hiatus, here's some more comment_fic:

Title: Let the Games Begin
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Word count: 278
Disclaimer: I don't own anything in the Buffy franchise.
Warnings: The end of the world, implications of torture
Characters: Angelus, Drusilla
Prompt: any. any. having dinner in unexpected places

"I told you, Daddy," said Drusilla, triumphant and regretful both at once. She laughed, then, and twirled three times.

"So you did, Dru," said Angelus, his gaze still fixed on the screen that showed the imploding Earth. It was almost a pity, and who would have thought that he'd be thinking that at the end of the world? Maybe it was because he hadn't caused it himself. Still, enough humans had survived. So would they, with the right plan.

"I thought the very best party would be the last one before the end of the world," Drusilla continued, "but I was wrong. The very best party will be here with all the stars." She licked her lips.

Angelus chuckled. "Let's give them the chance to take us to their new world first, hm?"

Dru pouted. "We can eat a few before we get there, can't we? And hurt them, just a little?"

"Of course, dear girl." Angelus offered his arm, and the other vampire latched on with a smile. They walked across the room, out the door, and there were two human guards. Drusilla eyed the closest one hungrily, but Angelus gave her a warning look and guided her away.

"Oh, does Daddy want to play?" whispered Drusilla, a wicked smile teasing at her lips.

"We'll keep them guessing," Angelus whispered back, already planning how to deal with the surveillance. "I never really thought I'd have dinner on a space ship," he added more loudly.

"I did," sang Drusilla, beaming proudly. Angelus gave her an indulgent look.

They were the last two vampires in the universe, as far as he knew, but they'd soon take care of that.

Title: The Voice of Rage and Ruin
Fandom: Harry Potter
Word count: 462
Disclaimer: I don't own anything Harry Potter, and the title's from Bad Moon Rising.
Warnings: Strongly implied major character death, AU
Characters: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley
Prompt: Harry Potter, Harry, Ginny never had Riddle's diary, Harry did all along

Harry doesn't trust Tom at first. Why would he?

He doesn't tell anyone about Tom, either. Why would he? The wizarding world is probably full of books that answer back.

Tom is patient and understanding. Tom was raised by muggles that hated him for his magic, just like the Dursleys hate Harry.

He might start to trust Tom, a little. It's just so nice to have someone who understands, and Tom has so many ideas about how to deal with bullies. Harry thinks that he might try some next summer; grateful as he is for his rescue, it also means that he's going to need all the advantages he can get.

(They starved him for a floating pudding, and a flying car is so much worse.)

Hermione corners him in the common room. "Are you alright, Harry?"

He gives her a tired smile. "I'm fine."

"Are you sure? You've been..."

"I'm fine," he snaps, and storms past Hermione and out through the portrait hole.

He really is fine. Shouldn't she trust him by now?

~

The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware.

For a moment, Harry thinks that he hears a strange, hissing laughter. He shakes it off; it's probably just because he's tired. It might even be one of the other students. After all, Mrs Norris isn't exactly popular.

~

People think that Harry is the Heir of Slytherin, just because he stopped a snake from biting Justin Finch-Fletchley. Even Ron and Hermione keep looking at him funny.

At least Tom is sympathetic.

~

Hermione corners him again, in an empty corridor this time. Ron is right behind her, but he's fidgeting and won't meet Harry's eyes.

"We're worried, Harry," says Hermione, and elbows Ron, who hastily nods his agreement, although he still won't look at Harry. "You've been acting... not like yourself."

Harry's eyes narrow. "Don't tell me you think I'm the Heir of Slytherin."

For a long moment, no one speaks. That's enough of an answer for Harry. He ignores his friends - former friends, it seems - calling after him as he runs as fast as he can. He feels the pricking of tears, blinks hard and keeps on running.

He doesn't stop until his lungs start to burn.

The next morning, Professor McGonagall tells them that Hermione has been petrified. There's a choked quality to her voice that he's never heard there before.

Harry sits perfectly still, wide-eyed and numb.

He doesn't remember what he did last night.

~

His skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever.

Ginny Weasley can't stop crying. Ron Weasley is quiet and hardly talks to anyone.

No one knows how to open the Chamber of Secrets. (No one would be able even if they knew.)

There is no question of Hogwarts staying open.

Title: Red Red Red
Fandom: Twilight
Word count: 245
Disclaimer: I don't own Twilight.
Warnings: Blood, generally disturbing themes
Characters: An immortal child
Prompt: any, any, blood everywhere

The little red-eyed child giggles and claps and jumps into a red puddle. Splosh. She jumps again and again. Splosh. Splosh.

Her family says that she shouldn't make a mess or waste food, but she likes jumping in puddles and she's full anyway. The sound of a heartbeat reaches her ears ba-dum ba-dum and maybe she isn't all full up after all. She smiles wide and skips towards the sound.

There's a man lying on the ground, pretending to be dead. Such a silly man. He's very pretty with red on his skin and in his hair. Red is her favourite colour out of all the colours that ever were. She wishes that she had red hair - not orange, either, but real red - but all she has is boring brown hair. At least her eyes are red.

She sits down next to the man and licks up some of the blood. His eyes fly open and he yells, he really is bad at playing dead. She laughs and grabs his arm so that he won't run away, and then she bites. It tastes good and makes her throat feel better.

He cries out and struggles, but she's much stronger than any silly human who can't even play properly. Soon she can't hear a heartbeat anymore, so she lets him go and jumps into another red puddle. Splosh. She wants to jump in every single one before they turn dry and brown and boring.

Title: The Devil
Fandoms: Dracula + Sherlock
Word count: 369
Disclaimer: I don't own Dracula or Sherlock.
Warnings: Femslash, arson
Pairing: Lucy/Mina
Characters: Mina Murray, Lucy Westenra, Jim Moriarty
Prompt: Any, any/any, “I know your dirty little secret.”

Mina knows that Jim from IT has been watching her for awhile now, and that he is intrigued and covetous. Her throat is dry and her gums ache, she could so easily... No. She'll simply let him down and that will be that.

"I know your dirty little secret," he sing-songs. She looks up sharply, expression cold, and he grins back. His eyes are just as cold as the Count's ever were, and by far more mad. She may have misjudged the situation.

His head sways slowly, reptilianly. "We should go for a walk."

"What if we do?" she murmurs, wary.

"I have an offer I think you'll like. You and that lovely lady you live with."

Mina's eyes narrow.

They go for a walk.

~

"Vampires," muses Jim. He seems entirely delighted with the idea. "Humanity's natural predators. And yet..." He frowns dramatically. "You're drinking from blood bags and animals."

He laughs, chilling and scornful. Mina bristles but refrains from saying anything, and suddenly Jim's face is barely an inch from hers. "Why is that?" he hisses.

She stands her ground and shrugs defensively (uncomfortably). "We thought it... prudent."

Jim gasps, too dramatic and overplayed to be genuine. "Surely not... Sherlock Holmes?"

Mina glares. "Who are you?"

"Moriarty."

Ah. "Your people are watching us, I assume?"

"But of course."

~

To all appearances, Lucy adores him. It makes Mina... worried.

Still, it feels good to hunt again.

"We can't trust him," Mina warns in a whisper as they leave behind a burning building, their arms wrapped tight around each other.

"Of course not," Lucy whispers back. "He cares for no one but himself."

Mina raises her eyebrows. "I thought..."

Lucy kisses her.

"You know me better than that," Lucy murmurs when they draw apart. "There's no need to be jealous, darling."

~

"We used to be better than this," says Mina, quiet and thoughtful.

Lucy rolls over to look at her. "Oh?"

"We were... human. And then we were monsters, but not like this. We were... pragmatic."

"It can't be helped. Moriarty is the devil and we've struck the devil's bargain, there's no going back."

"I used to think the Count was the devil," says Mina, and laughs. Lucy laughs too.
