Does that mean a disruption in communications?

In 1859, you could read a news paper outdoors in the "dark" in cuba

the northern lights were that strong.

also telegraph wires were shocking people due to the solar effect.

I suspect all our satelights will be knocked out and possibly fry equiptment on the ground.
It looks like it will only get bad in 2012 and then get better quickly.

Is this related to the sunspot cycle that reoccurs every 11 years? I saw on FoxNoise awhile ago quantum physics Dr. Michau Kaku talking about how the cycle in 1990 was pretty docile and that was the last big one compared to what is forecast to occur during 2012. He also talked about the vulnerability of satellites to the sunspots.

This article talks about the same thing: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/03/07/MNGAFHJJL91.DTL

yes it occurs ever 11 years, but this one is suposed to wipe us out, atleast electronically, for a while.

I'm going to draw up a low tech contingency plan for my company and try to get it pushed through as part of our disaster recovery.

I'm telling all my friends to backup info on CD's

Put all thumb drives in iron boxes, and not to rely on hard drives. Also be prepared to put your equiptment in iron boxes as it is possible the activity could perminently damage everything. Have all this done by 2011.

In 1859 we had no where near the amount and sencetivity in electronics that we do now.
