I've made my design work in a godawfully inelegant way that completely breaks on low resolutions.  It rankles with my stubborn streak but, as everyone in IRC is telling me (mostly because I am completely impossible to tolerate when I am in the process of butting heads with something until either it breaks

If you make a single concession to usability, let it be this: add an RSS feed. I've pretty much forgotten what it looks like to see the web through a standard browser view.

Yeah, that's definitely part of the plan. I'm pretty sure the CMS supports RSS without me having to do too much mucking about. Hopefully.
