Papacy: No country for old men

First off, if you came here looking for a eulogy for Pope Benedict, you found the wrong page. I didn't know much about the man, was wary of his life-story, and what little of his theology I encountered I disagreed with.
But that doesn't stop me being deeply saddened by his decision announced yesterday to retire on the grounds that he's no longer fit

I honestly just don't get churches and religion, the Roman Catholic church seems to be vastly alien to reality and 10.000 years out of date, this pope was adamant keeping it as far in the past as possible and now ironically does something that can be considered "modern" step down because of old age...
Ah well, what do I know?..

As for the rest, need to find a way to get to Cornwall someday again, must give hug! :)
