Wasian Day IV

Nov 27, 2005 14:02

Okay chilluns, I know you're all waiting for your monthly Wasian Day update. WELL HERE IT IS. BE HAPPY. (And remember to hover over the pictures for additional captions.) Also, apparently Jeewon thinks he looks really ugly in these pictures. We should take a poll.

We got on a boat and went to Korea! And by Korea, I mean Annandale. And by getting on a boat, I mean taking my ghetto red soccermommobile.

Here we are in the department store. Hello, let's just nickname the entire town Little Seoul.

Then we went searching for Engrish items. I don't even know what the hell this is.

He's not drunk, he's showering.

This is the ugliest picture of me in the whole world and I refuse to indulge any amusing captions upon it.

Look at the fake eyelashes. It's like a flashback to WSS.

He's depressed like the characters on the box.

I bought an obnoxious Hello Kitty hair clip for 50 cents and I kept complaining about its ugliness while Jeewon kept trying to convince me it was quite beautiful.

Then we went to the Shilla bakery and had dessert and a smoothie. Jeewon is upset because he ate too much.

But we had a most excellent lunch of soondae, gim bap, and mandu.

J: are you sure you want to eat soondae?
M: Sure, I eat just about anything.
J: Okay. Well, just because it's like, pig entrails...
M: How about you don't tell me what it is and I'll find out after I've eaten it?

Apparently the food was too good...

...or Shilla's kiwi smoothies are too good.

At any rate, we approve.

Then we went to another stationary store to look at the weird Korean products.

J: "Look Amanda, this is every little Korean girl's dream come true..."

Then we walked out of the parking lot, saw THIS, and had the ensuing conversation...

J: I don't know what I'd do if I weren't Korean.
M: You'd be Chinese. Or probably Japanese, actually.
J: Don't you wish you were half-Korean?
M: No, I'm glad to be Filipino.
J: I guess that just means we're too cool for you.

Then we decided to go back to Hoodbridge and pick up some essential items... namely Lytchee gummies, the beefcake shirt, and Kungfu Hustle. On the way, we stopped by our favorite Halfrican.

And took pictures of him from our moving van and offered him candy.

Then we went to my lovely elementary school :o) And for some reason, Jeewon found it abso-f-ing-lutely hilarious that there were two playground signs... one in English and one in Spanish.

Then he ran on the weird little wheel thing that I haven't conquered since kindergarten.

And I contemplatively gaze at the sky... or at least tried not to fall off the little car.

And then we played on the jungle gym that's been up since before I was in kindergarten. Good to know things haven't changed much, right?

And then there's this beautiful picture. Apparently the playground builders at my school are IDIOTS and can't put in blocks correctly. All the little children will grow up knowing that pigs come in three pieces and their tails go before their heads. Jeewon empathizes with the piggy.

Okay, and then here is where we attempted to take pictures that wouldn't make Jeewon look TOO Asian, but apparently that failed. And apparently I fail at making any other facial expression, but at least I don't look stoooopid ;D

Best one. Gomsamnida :P

Then we went back home and watched Kungfu Hustle... or at least, more correctly, I watched it while Jeewon FELL ASLEEP (probably from too much food). And thusly, Wasian Day IV came to an early close, completely understandable from all the running back and forth we did that day. Or rather, all the rowing on the boat from Korea to the Philippines back to the mainland of Northern Virginia. ;D

pictures, wasians
