Do you still write poetry, too?

I'm just asking because I remember reading something you wrote a long time ago - at least I think it was a long time ago, it feels like a long time ago - and it resonated with me so much:

"You can sit there and talk about my tendencies.
I will talk to you, and I will be dismissed.
You can sit there, in your eminence.
I just want to think of all the girls I never kissed."

I don't think I've bookmarked it, because I can't find it anymore, so I hope I haven't messed up the actual lines too badly. :-)

Anyway, I was thinking about that poem again, and I thought I'd look you up and see if you'd written any more. Feel free not to unscreen this comment if it's really weird or anything. I guess I mostly wanted to thank you for having written that - it's powerful, clean, and expressive, and I love it.

OMG! I can't believe you remember that. It's so long ago, and you almost have it perfectly(I didn't put mine in lines like that). I'm so grateful that you liked it that much! Thanks so much, this is such a great compliment.

I do write a little poetry, but it's not posted so often. I think I might start posting it again, because I have a tag, but it gets so rarely used.

I noticed your comment about Stephen King and I just have to ask your opinion. What is it about his writings and characterizations that you dislike?

Well, start with the secret window(the wife, the way all her aganecy was removed), the firestarter one, Carrie...

It's like, women are either evil, or victims.

AND HIS WRITING IS SO FUCKING SMUG IN TONE THAT I WANT TO SMACK HIS FACE!

I'm sorry, I'm not rational on the subject of Stephen King. Expect no rationality, please.

I have noticed that. I've been reading his books since I was about 11 or so and I have definitely noticed a pattern with the women. Though some are victims, they often seem to have their 'revenge' if you could call it that. One of my favorites of his was Dolores Claibourne, simply because she had a simple resilience to her, a tough grit.

The amount of sexual imagery regarding children always struck me as somewhat disturbing, especially in 'It'. The 'orgy' scene was both fascinating to me at 12 and somewhat appalling.

Hello. I am adding you because a) you have now made me laugh hysterically two days running in 'rage of all places and b) you are critically analyzing Stephen King as a sexist asshole, which should speak for itself.

Aw, man. I'm not rational on the subject of Stephen King. I don't critically analyze him, I just think of the Bachman books and weep.

Then go write my own fantasy/horror

That's as good a solution as any I've ever heard. I've never been a huge fan, but pretty much dropped my urge for his writing after writing a paper on his abysmal treatment of women in "Salem's Lot" lo so many years ago.
