Compensation...

It could just be me, but I've been noticing that a lot of men seem to have these huge umbrellas they carry around nowadays.  Instead of the compact little pop-out umbrellas of the past, seemingly more convenient to carry around in my opinion, there seems to be a trend towards these things that look like they should be out by the pool covering a ( Read more... )

Maybe, although I haven't seen any guy sharing his umbrella. The part that really drives me nuts is the fact that a lot of them are short, so the fact that the umbrella takes up more space than they are aware of means that I keep almost catching an umbrella edge in the face...

I cannot speak for others, but I know with myself, I use a large umbrella here at work because I'm normally carrying a bunch of stuff that I don't want to get wet. Every other instance I go without an umbrella cause I like the rain. Maybe I’m just going for balance. Who knows?

I've yet to see anyone of them with anything more than a lunchbag so, unlike in your situation, it certainly isn't for practical reasons.

Nothing wrong with going sans umbrella, although I tend not to do that walking into work. Leaving work is a different story. ;)
