I've had a Wacom Graphire for nearly five years now and I still have yet to get used to using it.
... I most often use it in place of a wireless mouse when I use my laptop. I have never enjoyed using it for art. ... but I know people that swear by them.
I already like using it both for drawing and regular mouse activities! It's really precise and awesome. The Intuos has a bunch of programmable buttons and double the sensitivity of the Graphire. But I'm sure the Graphite also does a great job! I figured that if I was going to spend money on a tablet, I might as well spend a bit extra to get something I wouldn't regret.
You can use it as a mouse replacement! :P It is good for that too! Then again, I have trouble justifying purchasing stuff that I'll never really use much so I understand your thinking! But tablets are sexy.

I imagine the Intuos is even snazzier.
