I just used bristle board to cut the stencil. I cut it with an exacto knife. I need to find a better material to cut it in, because I need something for repeated use. Bristle board gets saturated with the paint and quickly begins to come apart.

So yeah, do everything in Photoshop, print it out, overlay the printout on whatever you're cutting it. Make sure it doesn't move around. Start cutting with an exacto knife, and you should be alright.

you can print or draw your stencil on a piece of paper, then laminate it before cutting. i've heard that acetate paper works well, too.
