Okay! First of all I want to make it really clear that you know so, so much incredibly more than I do about Naruto. I was an avid reader until--hmm, I think it was right before Sasuke fights Denzou that I stopped. So honestly, you are not off the mark with this. I haven't read or reviewed the canon in years-- Instead I've just been writing the character I've been writing since about five years ago, and he hasn't changed since I first picked him up. He hasn't been altered by canon differences or development, because I haven't been reading it, and frankly I'm not a fan of it anymore.

Still, I can never really stop writing Sasuke-- It's really bizarre, but I've sort of always written him, so it would feel totally weird to drop. It was something new and interesting--and after writing him for so gosh darn long, it seemed like an intriguing route to take. I wanted him violent, wild and without real direction. Honestly, I've never really seen Sasuke as calculating. He's always sort of acted on his emotions. The way he throws himself into fights is a lot like Naruto, honestly, and when he loses them? He beats the shit out of himself. Edelweiss, to him, was a massive failure. He couldn't protect himself or save himself from being a rat in a cage, and that fucked with him ( ... )
