Update + Rant

Wow.  What a game.

Granted I didn’t have a horse in the race, but still - what a game.  Poor officiating (sadly) but that last 10 minutes was great football.  What a shame that after the Pro Bowl it’s all over until the draft in April.  Enough of that, now onto the rant.

Revengel’s Rule #19:  Bad behavior rewarded is good behavior.

We just had a round of layoffs at work.  We reduced staff here by about 25% (rough estimate) and I’m fairly convinced this is only the first wave.  While some folks took that action as a wakeup call others have *continued* to not show up for work on time or in some cases *not show up for work at all*.

In this economy this is definitely not the time for this kind of shenanigans.  For every person in this office there are at least 20 people in the DC area *begging* for a chance to prove that they are worthy of employment.  And the worst part is not that these folks are complete slackers, it’s that the person who could actually enforce rules (or better yet, allow me to enforce them), my boss, has let this continue for the six years I’ve been here.

About the only ray of hope that I have now is a rather unexpected one.  Our CEO feels the same way that I do and we have a similar list of folks that we would like to see changed.  There were some very good people who were very hard workers who lost their jobs last week.  Both the CEO & I would like to see some of those people back, and this should be an opportunity to bring them back to our fold while dismissing - with cause - individuals who have not performed anywhere near the standards set some time ago here at this company.

Rather unexpected to have *that* kind of backup.  Don’t’ think I’ve ever had it with this kind of passion.  I suspect that before too long things are going to happen the way they should have around here a loooooong time ago.  I’m going to try to see him today per his request.

Ok, now onto happier things.  MY WENT KLUBBING!!!

Yes, my calves still hurt.  Yes, I’m totally out of shape.  No, I didn’t care at the time!  It was good to see some familiar faces and even better to meet some new ones.  The one down side was that I missed Tanz mit Laibach - because I was late getting to Midnight.  So, my new plan:  club more often!

Well, I’ll try to check in later with more stuffs!

rant, anger, clubbing, midnight, work
