Why SWF Is The Crappiest Airport Ever

Aug 08, 2005 18:42

Since I am quite used to the semi-efficiency of Chicago O'hare, I have always held a grudge against New York's Stewart/Newburgh airport. It never seemed to me like the employees ever knew what they were doing and I don't remember ever having a flight out of that airport that was on time ( Read more... )

Hehehe, I sent American Airlines an e-mail expressing my... displeasure and they gave me 10,000 bonus miles. But I still never want to go to SWF AGAIN. EVER.

Dude, that seriously sucks. I've flown by myself like ten or so times, so it's no big deal. But for that to happen flying alone the first time... wow.

At least you weren't flying British Airways. I wasn't either, but there were some people in the Heathrow (London) hotel that I was staying in. The hotel ran out of rooms. This lady was going up to Edinburgh to get married. She had three kids with her, no room, and no luggage! The luggage went up to Edinburgh. At least the hotel let her stay in the lobby.

Chicago O'hare is a good airport. We got delayed there for a couple hours on our way over to England, but it wasn't that bad. At least I could charge my iPod.

It wasn't my first time flying alone. They have this thing called Unaccompanied minor where you pay them $ to have them bother you on the flight and let your parents come through security. Then also, if they lose you, your parents can sue them. Anyway, it was the first time I hadn't done that, and if I had, my grandmother would have been at the gate with me and I could have gone home immeadiately. But, I didn't so... Oh well.

Wow, that British Airways thing sounds horrible!

Oh yeah, I did that once. After that, I told my mom I could take care of myself. Plus, with e-tickets, you just go up to a machine and type in your confirmation code. It's incredibly easy. I hate dealing with people.

Here's a tip, though. I almost missed my flight from Edinburgh to London because we thought we had plenty of time and tinkered around outside of security. Then the line got horribly long and we almost missed out flight. The point is you should always get through security before screwing around. You most likely know this with how much you travel, but like I said, we almost missed our flight and my mom has traveled more than almost anybody else.

Yeah, the British Airways thing sucked. What happened was the food handlers went on strike and BA just decided to fire them and brought some new people in. This was a violation of some union rule so the whole airway went on strike.
