The general rule is that should the host dies, so does the parasite.

Viri stay dormant within corpses and do not cause infections. This is because a virus cannot survive in a dead body for longer than a few hours.

The exception to this rule would be the HIV virus which has been known to survive up to sixteen days in a corpse, under ideal circumstances and low temperature.

I have not seen Mister America either.
