[Maka's voice comes onto the device, and she sounds upset, her voice shaking.]

These things...whatever they are, you shouldn't listen to them. They aren't real, they don't even have souls.

I-[But before she can finish whatever she was going to say, she gasps loudly and another, lower voice begins speaking.]

Oi, o-oi, Maka, I-I d-don't-- [ His voice is just as shaky and quiet, almost muffled- then suddenly, there is a choking sound, a huff of air and then a short pause in which only shuffling is heard. ]

... [ More pause. Then deep, rolling laughter in which there is the sound of a body hitting the floor, followed by a wet squelching and even louder laughing... ]

A-Aahaaha!

H-Hey Maka!

'Aint this great? I-Its like we're in a video game, 'yup! I don't ever wanna' stop playing!

My whole damn life is just a game like this!!

[ He couldn't have sounded any less like Soul. ]

[There's a long pause in which only her soft and slightly ragged breathing can be heard.]

Where are you? [It comes out quietly and emotionless.]

[ He doesn't seem to notice this, and barely even registers her words. ]

Oh... some street somewhere.... Some bench--

Hey-- No, you can't have that...! Aha, gerrof'! I'm not playing!

[ There is moaning, more laughing, and then the sound of sharp cracking and more squelching and more muffled choking, before the same sound of a body falling to the floor. Pause. ]

T-These locals are crazy, Maka! [ He snickers in a high pitched way, mostly to himself. ]

I mean, I recognise some of these people; 'a-aint it mad? I never thought I'd see some of them again, but maybe this is home after all--

[ There is the sound of metal clashing with something hard, and the communicator is damaged somehow. Its evident by the way the sound suddenly flickered, and there are more clashing sounds before slight white noise appeared in the background. ]

Soul![His words and disturbing laughter shake her out of her own odd disposition at least long enough to focus.]

I'm coming to find you. This isn't home, and these things AREN'T real. [She takes off to find him, away from the direction she'd been heading in. The way he sounds is almost scaring her, and she goes to where she can feel his soul, running as fast as she can.]

[There's the sound of wind whipping by. He's most likely flying on Beelzebub at the moment to avoid the walking dead on the street.]

It's fine, I'll come and find you. Give me just a bit. [She sounds oddly detached.]

Maka? Maka, are you alright?

[Patti is really worried. She doesn't like what she heard or how Maka sounded.]

I'm okay. I have to go after Soul, something is wrong. Kid is on his own. [She doesn't have to ask Patti to go and find him, she knows the weapon doesn't need to be told to find her meister.

[Patti didn't need to be told twice.]

I'll go get him!

[Patti wouldn't allow anything to happen to Kid. So she clicked off and went right to find Kid.]

Maka. [ His voice is calm and kind as usual, but with an undertone of sadness to it. ]

[By the time she gets his message she's already taken off after Soul, but she doesn't ignore him.]
