Go Ask Alice
('Perks' i'm sure you've already read)

I've heard that In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is excellent.

On my last trip to the library I meant to get that, but my hands were already too full.

It was nice seeing you by chance today!

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers.
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster (it's a children's chapter book but it's excellent).

I would definitely check out the Best American Nonrequired Reading Series. They have really good excerpts.

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is so amazing. Have you read You Shall Know Our Velocity? It's his second book and it's just as good. And I also think I read The Phantom Tollbooth when I was little.

I think my friend bought it but I haven't read that yet.

Another one:
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
