I just started my very own community...videogamefanart. I'm honestly surprised that I'm apparently the only person who hasn't thought of that for a community, or taken that user name!..I searched fairly thoroughly.

As a moderator of a community, I find that people usually mind less when you are promoting in a community which has similar interests to theirs. If you are talking about promoting in a community, make sure to check their info page, because you don't want to anger a community which clearly states that they don't allow advertising/spam. Hope this helps. ;)

Yeah, I know, most communities don't like that. ^_^ I find a lot of spamming annoying too.

So what helped you the most getting your community off the ground?

Well...I promoted constantly for about two weeks, until I had promoted in 170 communities...lol...I was persistent ;)

That's a good place to start.
You might look to see if there are other promo communities too, that's the only one I know off hand.

Yeah, I'm working on using those..but how many people actually look at those for the purpose of joining rather than advertising? =p
