HOME FROM IRELAND! PICTURE POST, day 2.

Jan 03, 2007 09:14

so we began our morning with coffee. lol. this pic shows the amazing size difference between a large and a medium. we just found that hilarious. mine was like a freakin' teacup! :)

the irish version of a bagel and cream cheese my brother had. it's like, real cheese, ya'll.

so after that, we decided to do some sightseeing and shopping.

the famous dublin doors. all of these buildings have doors of a different color, and this picture is famous for being on postcards in dublin. pretty cool.

the buses have two stories. that's CRAZAY!

next door to our hotel, was this amazing catholic church. on sunday we went to mass there and it was so beautiful.

they had a tribute to mother theresa that was so amazing...

isn't the stained glass gorgeous?

omg. then we went to st. stephen's green which was THE most beautiful place in dublin.

my FAV scenic pic of the entire trip.

these pics speak for themselves... this place was truly breathtaking...

look at the fog.

us at st. stephen's green. you can tell we're related, just look at those eyes.

so then we wandered around dublin some more... some random pictures:

this is what most of dublin looked like, it was very condensed with stores/buisnesses on the bottom floors and then apartments ("flats" as they call them) above. pretty cool.

living statue! this dude creeped me out. he would jump up randomly making this HUGE boom sound and change positions. I think you were supposed to throw money at him or something.

another one!

yay, a normal statue.

and another.

another view of dublin.

at least their graffiti says intelligent things. ;)

the grocery store. it was really pretty inside, like central market here.

so then we went to dublin castle. it was awesome. here come a lot of pics, again, they speak for themselves, no captions necessary on these.

my bro in the guard box thingy.

so this is my bro looking at the map figuring out where to go next and giving me detailed directions...

and this is me paying oh-so-good attention to him. lol

so then we went to another beautiful church in dublin. they were easy to come by there, but this one takes the cake on being the prettiest. and the oldest. look at the year it was founded:

I really liked this...

so I did it. :)

so after our sightseeing, we did some shopping [MIRANDA I got you a little gift], then went home and got prettied up and went out to the pubs. we tried to see the oldest pub in ireland, which is called the brazen head. they CLOSED at 10pm!! we were shocked, that's what time we went out to get started. so we asked some locals where we should go, and they said across the street to this place called the merchant. as we crossed the street an irish family behind us was walking who also tried to go the brazen head, and they were like, "they think too much of themselves. closing at 10pm. ha." it was hilarious.

but this pub ended up being awesome. I learned a lot about irish pubs, in that:

a] an irish pub or bar will never ever card you. you will see sixteen year olds drinking. sometimes younger.

b] smoking isn't allowed anywhere inside in ireland. this makes the bars/pubs so much more enjoyable, in my opinion. [my brother, who smokes, would say otherwise. lol]

c] there really is live irish music going on in almost all the pubs.

d] guiness really is what everyone drinks.

e] people do get up and randomly start jigging. see proof of that below.

so anyway. I also discovered I didn't like guiness. *gasp* but my bro was like "do you like jack n' coke?" and I'm like "DUH" so he ordered me a jameson and coke which omg was even better than jack n' coke. [Q I thought of you when drinking this! lol]

pictures!

the pub band. that singer was cool. and the old guy on the accordian was jamming!

me with my jameson and coke. and LOOK AT THE HEADBAND! lol I bought that in ireland and it matched my shirt perfect.

my bro and I drinking together.

our favorite pic of the whole trip of the two of us. ps. I got that necklace in ireland too.

PROOF that people actually randomly start jigging in pubs. this was so awesome.

a little glimpse of that singer, singing "cheatin heart". lol

and on to day 3, which only gets better...
