didnt have to work this week at all, which sucked. didn't do anything while i was at home, just looked at my next year's courses or w/e and played pdc. pdc was terrible for the most part.
on monday's block constructed event, i had game on the table but ran out of time on my clock. since my computer is so trash, it basically adds five seconds every time i get priority, which is no good when you're running control. i obviously dropped because i tend to go on huge losing streaks when i lose.
on tuesday's classic event, i was paired against spore cry which i believed to be a decent matchup. i was playing orzhov blink, since i figured people wouldn't see it coming since Okiba-Gang and Shrieking Grotesque are bugged on MTGO (and are essentially vanillas). I replaced them with more removal and chittering rats, shifting the deck further away from aggro-control and into control. i also mained two copies of crypt rats, which i unfortunately did not see at all during game 1. post-board, my deck contained 4 crypt rats, which i didn't draw early on. a copy came up to tease me when i was on 1 life and was thus unable to sweep the opposing saproling swarm. hooray for another 0-1 drop.
on wednesday's future extended event, i played mostly-blue teachings control. my round 1 opponent was orzhov blink (wtf) which i managed to beat quite easily in game 1. in game 2, i was put through some major lag and misclicked into allowing my opponent to resolve a mindstab. i was able to come back on card advantage with fathom seer and think twice, but then conceded the game after he baited my one counter with mulldrifter and followed it up with mindstab. in game 3 i managed to wrestle into a favourable position, holding mystical teachings, remove soul, echoing decay, and lonely sandbar with a spire golem in play to his 1 card and ravenous rats. his life total was 24, and the time remaining on my clock was 3 or so minutes. impossible to win. another 0-1 drop :)
on thursday's standard event, i played storm control. round 1, i was paired against a vicious GU aggro deck that suspended a ton of junk and backed it up with counterspells. i narrowly lost game 1, failing to draw any removal for his infiltrator-il kor before my six goblin tokens could bash through for the win on the following turn. i managed to storm for a rather large amount in game 2, and it was no contest. game 3 saw him misclick past his attack step, throwing away a potential 11 damage (while i was on 12 life). when play passed to me, i wiped his entire board and emptied the warrens for a ridiculous amount. he lost due to time, but i was in a favourable position anyway. round 2, i was paired against some ridiculously slow player with a terrible deck. the details aren't worth mentioning, but i found myself trying to play around the craziest outs since random players tend to do very random things. 2-0. in round 3, i was paired against the host, who destroyed me with Gw tokens. like tuesday's event, i didn't draw any of my board sweepers :/... i ended off with a 2-1 record, a sure top 8, but ended up dropping anyway because of my losing mood. i stuck around anyway and watched Jun play out his first top 8 and top 4 matchups. hassan and i were peeking into top 8 games, yelling random stuff regarding errant ephemerons and qumuloxen.
i put together a Bu aggro-control deck 5 minutes before friday's future extended event. it was basically comes-into-play creatures with ninja of the deep hours and shadowmoor's new "turn to mist". round 1, i was paired against force of will, whose GB husk deck i managed to beat 2-0. round 2, i was paired against lulthyme's mono red burn, which i barely managed to beat 2-1. round 3, i was paired against jokerknight's random ru counter-burn, which i lost to 0-2. i managed to sneak into the top 4 as 4th seed and beat shardfenix's freed from the real (omg infinite combo) deck 2-1. in the finals, i was paired in a rematch against jokerknight. after seeing his deck for the first time, i was more prepared for its shenanigans and utterly outplayed him 2-1. i made such a savage play that put me up 3 cards. with 9 mana up, i returned an unblocked rat for ninja of the deep hours, which he attempted to shard volley during declare blockers. in response, i played grim harvest targetting the other ninja in my graveyard and ninjutsu'd it returning the ninja he was targetting, thus putting him down a land and burn spell, and drawing me a card.
so coming out with a win this week was pretty nice, despite my three failures. i need a better computer.
yknow, one that doesn't lag like a snail when running mtgo. or hell, even one that can handle flash games such as tetris without randomly dying.
i've been wanting to record a lot of music recently, but clearly haven't been wanting to enough, seeing as i can't overcome my laziness and just fcking move all the junk downstairs to the basement where the the drums and all the amps are.
i have a couple hundred dollars from work and no idea what to do. some evil, evil imp in the back of my mind is telling me to purchase a playset of mutavaults, but i know how ridiculously stupid that is.
aside from all this, everything's still frighteningly lonely. i hope it doesn't stay that way.
