I really need to reinstall Mac OS. I thought this wouldn't happen with mac (and apparently it only happens to my mac) - but just like Windows, things degrade over time and eventually you need to reinstall. Actually most of the things I heard about Mac I've found to not apply to me. They say mac's are not good for games, but great for multimedia - ( Read more... )

Do you run as a standard user or as an administrator? It's the key problem people using UNIZ/BSD, or any OS for that matter. Run as a standard user and the system itself should never degrade over time. The user profile, maybe, but that data (and in OS X, even the preferences) should be easy to move to a new user profile.

Administrator. As long as it doesn't make things annoying (ie having to log in as admin to install software) - I think I shall run as a standard user next time. My system isn't too crappy right now - it just gets slow and buggy (expecially finder and xcode) at random times - so waiting until Leopard should be ok.

who are you btw?
