5:00pm - 50,000 donations, totalling ( Read more... )

Thanks, love ♥ I'm well away from it, and the family in Kinglake (one of the towns that got wiped out) are safe. Death toll is closing in on 200 though >.

apparently David Jones donated $500, 000...but in gift cards! We thought that was nice of them, but hilarious at the same time.

LOL - seriously? I mean, I can sort of see why they do it - keeps sales up, rather than letting the money go elsewhere (like, say, Myer). But what are the fire victims going to need with designer handbags and upper-price-range manchester? XD

I wanted to donate online today at work but it was crazy busy. Luckily there was a collection at reception so I gave some money there. The way people have reached out is absolutely amazing.

It crazy; I don't remember the last time Australians gave so much to a cause so quickly...! Sometimes people suck, but for once it's the complete opposite.

Good thing you had a collection at work. Being interstate, there was nothing like that here. But I donated fifty on the Red Cross website yesterday, and when I got home I found out that both parents and sister-the-youngest had done exactly the same thing : ) I just wish there was more we could do.
