This made me feel so much better for, like you, it wasn't Arthur's death that was the true tragedy at the end of the story; it was Merlin's eternal aloneness. Imagine having to wait *all that time* without the respite of death? I can't. This story helped heal my heart a bit. And I loved that you stuck to legend by having Merlin slumber in his tree, however without Morgana's evil enchantment this time, but instead with Freya's merciful blessing. Nice twist and truly well done! Thanks for this.

Oh, that was lovely. You used the legend of Merlin entombed in a tree beautifully and even this year's awful UK weather. Just gorgeous.

This was lovely and evocative. It's strange, in some ways I find Merlin sleeping away their separation inside a tree more comforting than him trying to forge on and live in a world without Arthur.

One quick note, the Shee isn't spelled the way it sounds, instead it's spelt - the Sidhe.
