I LOVE your first one, and I couldn't find any flaws grammatically or spelling wise, but I can look it over again later to double check.
....I need to restate the first part of my previous sentence...I LOVED BOTH of them XD
Your second one only had one spelling error that I found. Third or fourth sentence in from the first paragraph, you have a 'wee' instead of a 'were.' And that's the only booboo I found, but like I said, I shall recheck again tomorrow when it's earlier and I'm not...sleepy XD.
Your righting is wonderfully smooth and flowing! Keep it up!
PS: Yes, the were short, but better to have the a little on the short side than too long (I usually have mine WAY too long)
