"Look, don't chuck me out straight away, hear me out first -" he began to say as he stepped out, until he caught sight of the swinging headset.
"Oh no..." he almost whispered. "Oh no. Oh nononononnononoNO!" He ran over to the headset and examined it, feeling crushed and betrayed all over again. His wandering glance caught the note and with unsteady hands he removed it from the device and read it.
