JIANG WEI
(canon.) after the fall of chengdu, zhong hui had befriended jiang wei, who later inspires him to rebel against wei. (amat.) different timelines or not, zhong hui is determined to keep his friend alive by paying him weekly visits to tend to his collar, falling for him in the process. what he feels for jiang wei had been indescribable up until recently. he'd (accidentally) declared his love, but it appeared unrequited. resigned by the whole ordeal, he withdraws himself from jiang wei. (status) unrequited??? love interest. ❤
MORI RANMARU
(amat) zhong hui had mistaken him for a woman in the beginning, but after an even duel and some 'bonding' during atia's carnival, he finally recognized him as a man and considers him a close friend. ranmaru's departure from the island is his first real loss, and he adopts a kitten and names him "ranmaru" to fill in the gap his friend had left him. (status) longs for his company. ❤
OERBA
DIA VANILLE
(amat) he'd been wary of her at first, especially with how suspiciously friendly she had been with him. however, he soon understands that that's just how she is. as one of the few people who can actually tolerate zhong hui to see him consistently in person, he considers her someone who he's willing to help out as much as necessary. (status) friendly attraction.❤
SIMA ZHAO
(canon) zhong hui's superior who he'd considered to be increasingly incompetent. he'd planned together with jiang wei to rebel against him. (amat) he'd been in an overwhelmingly neutral position in regards to sima zhao. he hadn't seen him as a threat until wang yuanji and sima shi had arrived. (status) extreme wary. ❤
NŌHIME
(amat) nōhime is different from the other women, he'd gathered, but still hasn't put a finger on how. he's wary of her, especially since she'd been the person who'd told jiang wei and himself that their plan will fail. it's information could've lived without knowing, but she'd at least... comforted him about it? (status) uncertain of her intentions. ❤
FUYUMINE NAOTO
(amat) ever since they'd met in the aphro-fueled ride at atia's carnival, he's shown interest in her well-being and, well... wants to get to know her better, but he's content with knowing her body more than her personality for the time being; there's always time for the latter. (status) curious attraction. ❤
SIMA SHI
(canon) he had been unable to prove his worth before sima shi had passed away, and zhong hui still felt belittled by him until the very end. (amat) although zhong hui has essentially broken himself away from the sima family, he still tries to behave himself in front of sima shi. he's the one person zhong hui would rather not deal with if his betrayal were to be exposed... (status) cautiously respectful.
ISHIDA MITSUNARI
(amat) they'd gotten off on the wrong end from the time they'd met - their personalities are too similar the two of them to ever legitimately get along, and zhong hui always seem to embarrass himself more and more each time, deepening his hatred for the samurai. (status) extreme dislike.
MOSES SANDOR
(amat) zhong hui doesn't know much about moses besides the fact that he's a complete idiot, and he's all right with just that bit. they've shared some awkward moments that he'd rather not relive, but unfortunately, it doesn't look like he's ever going to live the penis measuring incident down... (status) dislike. ❤
CAI WENJI
(canon) he doesn't know her personally, but his father had been her father's student, so he has much respect for the cai family. (amat) he's enthusiastic about their potential bond, especially discovering how much more brilliant and gentle she is in person - imagination alone pales in comparison to her true self. he's happy to have the opportunity to meet her. (status) guilty admiration.
KATŌ KIYOMASA
(amat) a mysterious man who seems to know mitsunari well. zhong hui doesn't know anything about him beyond that, but he does appreciate him for giving him hints to defeat mitsunari... also, why is his hair naturally white? (status) neutral.
WANG YUANJI
(canon) sima zhao's lady who figures zhong hui out long before the had sima ever realized. (amat) wang yuanji seems to have been brought to atia without the severe wariness she'd displayed back at home, which is to his benefit. the only problem is, she's much closer to him than she would've been in china (he in chengdu, she in luoyang), which makes his 'relationship' with jiang wei rather...difficult to come by. (status) extreme wary.
