Talking of a certain book, there is another semi-connection to it that I came across in recent months (I mean, aside from my wanting to put it in the same place in my head where I keep thoughts about Silent Hill. XD) that I've been wanting to share with somebody in the know.

Granted the album it came from was released in 1981, but if you get a chance, try to listen to a song by The Police called "Darkness". Maybe it's just my messed-up way of thinking, but from the first time I heard that song onward, it's been inseparable from my perspective of Navy's last exploration.
