It was all wrong. This was suppose to be their second chance. A simple life. A nice little house. No concerns over being lab rats. No fear. There was no real problem aside from the occasional Harmony acting up and effecting people strangely. Yes. That was the worst of it. Seth had been content with it. Living with Cain in their quiet little home by the park. They'd spent so long to fix turn the building into their home. In a sense it was almost perfect. Had they shut themselves out to the rest of the city? A bit. Who needed other people when they had each other? She didn't need anyone else. Her children were too enthralled with Esther any ways. It was pointless to tell them she was their Empress. It would only cause unwanted stress and problems.

They lived their lives in that peace. Teasing each other. Sometimes stealing into same bed and falling asleep cuddled up together. To an outsider it probably seemed more like a relationship that went past the bounds of siblings. To her, however it was just natural. They needed each other. If Abel and Lilith had each other, why couldn't they do the same thing? Sure there was some occasional talks with other people. Other people however never questioned their behavior or relationship. Even if anyone did she could simply wave it off and say it wasn't like Abel and Lilith. With those two it was a different level of affection. Everyone who ever knew them knew of their relationship. Of the way they somehow, among all of it, managed to find time for intimacy.

One day however the dream was shattered. Cain left. All of a sudden she was alone again. Abel was in the city but what good was he? He didn't come to see her. He always left her. Lilith did too. Cain was suppose to be the one who was by her side. Always. Now he was gone for good. If he left the city all he did was go to a future where he was dead and she turned him into a monster. And with each day that passed it was a memory that haunted her day and night. Sleep was filled with nightmares about Cain leaving, the monster that overtook him and the monster that killed her.

A week passed where she barely slept. Barely ate. Indeed she looked closer to her true age. The crusnik itched for release just under the broken and fragile surface. Once day they pushed their limits and she broke down. Collapsed to the ground, working with all of her effort to restrain them. Red-rimmed eyes managed to find a way to stare back at her in the mirror. Taunting. Laughing. She could hear them so clearly without a distraction. If she could remove them. Shut them down. Get rid of their existence she could save Cain. Not back home but even if 01 showed up in the city and she knew how to stop the nanomachines completely she could have her brother back. Abel would come around and they could live together again, just like a family. Were they truly fortunate Lilith would arrive. The family would be complete.

It was just a dream. A dream of the youngest member of their family. A dream to erase the sin that ruined their happiness. The city lacked so many things that it was impossible to continue her research. She had no idea what to do anymore. They were stuck with the crusnik. She was stuck with the fact there was nothing she could do for her brothers. In the end if 01 ever arrived again she came to one conclusion. She would end up dead by his hands yet again. It was unavoidable. A monster who wore the face of her family member would always be able to defeat her. If she was lucky then she might be the peaceful sleep of death or maybe she'd be fortunate enough to return home. Return home without a single memory of everything that happened in the city. Until then she had to try and push forward. Somehow. Until her family came to the city or until she returned home.
