Okay, so colors make stuff more fun.

I still think of this one mostly as a rough experiment. Now I'm gonna make more experiments!

nice colors.

as a regular rider of amtrak, i still object to the premise of this comic, and would reiterate that amtrak is in fact second class behind csx and the freight lines, which makes njt third class.

i do like the final panel, though. why are our trains so screwed up? it makes me mad. makes me jealous of europe, fercryinoutloud. thats one of my highest hopes for an obama administration: better trains. trains are awesome, ours dont have to suck so bad.

The originating premise is more autobiographical than anything, as I've been stopped on the rails while riding NJT a few times recently. It's really just a vehicle for a dark gag about persuasive speaking and the fetishized power of "causes".

I've actually taken an Amtrak train twice in the last two weeks, and it was like a dream. I've never had a problem on them, at least in my experience on the NYC/Philly/DC corridor.

Do you think Obama will have time in his busy schedule of eradicating world hunger and healing lepers to do anything about the train systems? ;P

well, i'm he knows not everyone else can walk on water like he can, and i'm hoping he's got some programs in mind for the rest of us.

but seriously, i am hoping that transportation policy, and rail policy in particular, is something he's sensitive to (and there is at least some evidence to support this hope), and coupled with a hope for some new-deal style federal infrastructure projects, i don't think i'm entirely crazy to hope there will be some progress made on the front of capacity, coverage and affordability of our nation's rail networks.

trains make good sense in a lot of contexts, and i hope obama makes it a priority (certainly not top priority, but it dovetails nicely with other good policy).
