Router Mod!

 nerdin out here...my Belkin G router has been overheating...i have had to reboot the damn thing a lot lately...so i decided to mod it...i added a huge  MAN FAN to it...

All i had to do was secure a normal 12vDC fan... 80mm--Thermaltake brand at  .10 Amps Solder it to the right places on the PCB and use a leftover 90mm-80mm fan adapter...cut a hole ( Read more... )

That's totally hard core dude! I just powercycle my Netgear that overheats sometimes. I've always had very bad luck with soldering. ;-)

actually i didnt even have to solder it, my soldering gun was borrowed from me...forever ago...so what i did was punched a hole in the underside of the power connector (the little tabs that hang down with solder, are very thin and if you have an ice pick or something similar you can punch right through, and i twisted both wires very securely to that...it works just as well without bringing out the iron..

It's still cool though. I just bought a new router to solve my problem, I haven't hooked it up yet though.
