Would it completely ruin the mood if I gave a speech on Nietzsche, specifically his views on marriage from Thus Spoke Zarathustra? But I guess he still thinks of women as parasites, so maybe I shouldn't dote on his writings ( Read more... )

being a woman is freer... or it should be. too bad not every one sees it that way.

seeee?? philosophy IS relevant to today's world. I remember a conversation we had discussing how it was too archaic.

well, what I meant by that was the fact that women (as children and otherwise) are able to take on some roles of males. If a girl plays basketball or baseball, she's looked at as athletic -- no problem. If a boy plays with dolls or bakes cakes, there's something wrong. It's okay for women to openly cry anywhere, whereas with men, they have to be "manly" and hold their emotions in etcetc

social (and some moral) philosophy is relevant to today's world... I don't deny that! I just got done studying Foucault, and he was more than just a philosopher! It's crazy.
