I am experimenting with cooking.

Mind you, I'm not talking about particularly exciting cooking; basically I've moved from "boil-in-a-bag rice" to "remove the rice from the boiling bag and try cooking it in something," in this case chicken soup. I was trying for sort of chickeny rice but what I ended up with was, well, chicken-and-rice soup. Next time I try this I'm not going to ( Read more... )

I'm kind of having fun going "let's find two very very simple things that I already like and see if they are still tasty when they have been spliced together into some bizarre mutant foodstuff."

That is a good way to begin. I like it. It is pretty much how I started cooking.

Dinty Moore is nostalgia food for me; it was pretty much a staple of all my Boy Scout camping trips. It's pretty good for canned food.

Provided, that is, that four different people don't walk past the campfire and, without actually tasting the stew, decide to add pepper. When you can actually see the flakes of pepper floating in the stew . . .

I have nothing against canned food, I've just never had that particular one. I'm rather fond of Campbell's tomato.

Recalling a previous remark from you about "Don't interfere with the meat," it occurs to me that at some point you might want a slow cooker. :)
