Wednesday - A bit of blue sky - then the downpour

We heard that Tuesday night and Wednesday morning would bring the worst parts of a new storm... it did rain Tuesday night - pretty heavily - but it seemed minor to what had come before...

As a matter of fact - around 11 am this is what I saw....

Your photographs are wonderful, and you seem especially adept at capturing marvelous images of roads and traffic. The sepia one with the curving water-slicked roadway and the palm tree silhouettes is beyond fabulous, truly iconic Southern California! It's a treat for the eye.

Thank you! Interestingly enough, the sepia image effect wasn't achieved through post processing but rather the sun began breaking through when I was taking pictures. If you look closely you can see the yellow traffic lanes and a red stop sign.

I commented to a friend that when it rains instead of staying inside, I feel the need to go outside and take pictures. Odd, I know!

Rain tends to be the photographer's friend - I know they purposely hose down streets for films and commercials to make a more glamorous, glossy surface.

Your photos on flickr are amazing! ... a demonstration that monochrome offers powerful artistic possibilities, especially with your eye for dramatic panoramas.
