Is it okay to applique & embroider the following on a coat for me: on a plate (white roundle) dovetailed, a boar's head couped close to sinister sable, armed argent? (essentially the BTY heraldry's centerpiece with a different metal as the background and dovetails)
About how much overlap of the front panels is on the front of those snazzy, mantle-

I was actually hoping to ask you the other day, but got distracted too easily. I would appreciate any help with patterning and pointers on the immense amount of applique that will go onto this that you can offer at some point (possibly Thyra's this weekend?)
I was afraid that would be the case (strong association), and I'm okay using a full boar instead.
Being that I'd like a very warm coat, I think I will opt for a lining one way or another.
you have heraldry USE IT!!!!!!! white borders are cool cleanliness is my only consideration knowing you i imagine you will be helping folks in the rain at estrella some day but i do think you should go for it just maybe not put it on the bottom edge if you put a boar on make it your own do something different have fun zip
It was actually something from the Anvil of Virtue that persuaded me to lean toward baronial or kingdom symbolism rather than personal.
The white borders on the bottom edge have had me wondering all afternoon for the reasons you bring up. Given that I'm working with a blue wool for the most of the coat, there's a part of me cringing at color on color if I use a darker color.
Was thinking about having my two boars butting heads on the center back...
you have been given the right to bear arms granted by the king i understand your interpretation, but display in court is different than display on the field displays of pageantry enrich the realm and show the wealth of the barons and kings court
a personal coat should display your arms and should you choose the kingdom, barony or household, but as an armiger and a man at arms(in the way Vitus describes) your identity is important as an inspiration
these are opinions and arent meant to discourage you have awesome heraldry and i would like to see it displayed have fun zip
