Wow, what a fantastic outing! Sure hope my mom doesn't find this post ;) since I promised her a national park trip next year, and I don't want her to pick THREE in such a hot region (she can't drive, for one thing)! I've heard so much about the Grand Canyon (of course) but Zion sounds more my thing.

Haha! Well, the positive side was that except for the first and last days, when we had to go from Phoenix to Sedona (or back), there really wasn't that much driving. We did probably 2 hours a day or so to get from park to park. They're really close together out there! I was surprised. And even though I'm not usually a fan of road trips, the scenery made semi-short drives like that fairly enjoyable.

If you want to make the trip shorter, skip the southern rim of the G.C. Zion, Bryce, and the north rim of the G.C. are within two hours drive of each other. There's a town in the middle... which I can't think of the name of right now... which you can base yourself at and then do day trips to each of the three parks, if you wanted. Really, it wouldn't be that much driving.

Oh -- and about the heat, yeah that could get ugly! We went in late Sept., which worked out really well. I wouldn't want to be there in the dead of summer, though, even with the cooling effect of the high altitude!
