Just finished reading "The Dragons of Eden" by Carl Sagan. WOW. This is the third or fourth book of his that I've read, and I'm still constantly amazed by the quality of thought that he portrays. We saw it while on vacation. Another great Pixar movie, not the best story-wise, and they can't all have cute toys or animals, but a really good movie I need to see again. Definitely for older kids. Karl liked the racing parts and got a few of the jokes, but Joseph gave up once Owen hit Radiator Springs. Did you catch all that scenery? Amazing. (I ended up in the wrong field -- had I realized that my BASIC animations could lead to Pixar, I'd have kept up with "playing" on the computer.)

One of the biggest laughs I got was after the movie. We were rehashing the movie and laughing at some of the lines, and my mom asked "Who's Hendrix?"

Yeah, it was definitely for older kids. There was a little girl about 4 behind us who kept asking her mom "What's going on, Mom? Mom, what's that mean?" It was kind of amusing but quite annoying also. I couldn't blame the kid, though -- while the movie was "kid-friendly", it wasn't really designed for the littlest ones. Which was okay with me! :)

And I, too, have considered switching majors... More than once... Mostly when Champion is being a lazy jerk of a supercomputer and I decide that I'd really be better off programming computers to make pretty pictures than to make ugly data.
