Profile @ fudomine.
Personality: Meet Tezuka Kunimitsu, member of the National-level Seigaku Jr. High tennis team. Success doesn't come without hard work, and hard work is, arguably, what this serious Captain is best at.
To best understand Tezuka's personality, taking his position into account is essential. "National-level Tennis player" is one of the first things that come to mind when people mention Tezuka in-canon. You don't get to National-level fooling around, and Tezuka is pretty well-known as being deathly serious. No, really. His no-business behavior is almost a running gag in the series, and his strictness/discipline breaks records. He values the rules, values, and fair play--any foolishness in the courts that he rules over, and he'll have you running laps. A whole lot of them.
Ambition. Yet another link to Tezuka's business behavior, and the reason for most of his actions. When Tezuka truly believes in something, he'll stop at nothing to achieve it. He can be almost sacrificial in his actions--if it's something he needs to do to achieve what he wants to do, then he'll do it with little hesitation. His unwavering confidence and understanding of what he needs to do to get to where he needs to be is just one outlet of Tezuka's absolutely seriousness.
Tezuka's efficiency does not stop, even in social situations. He is distant but polite in most interactions outside of his business scenario. In fact, this is often made fun of in canon, with characters mistaking him for an aged man when he's only fourteen (I know, a shock). If Tezuka's not being unintentionally arrogant he's being intentionally formal.
Still, fun isn't something that Tezuka will avoid. He'll join in with celebrations and parties with little complaining, as he understands the importance of a balance between rest and hard work. It's how he takes most things, really. There's concern and emotions underneath his shell, but he plays them off his intentions with business-excuses, which makes him seem more icy than he really is. Even smiling is a bit of a rare thing for him, which is why when the rare smile does come out... it's a very rare occurrence. Even Tezuka seems to be a bit shy when it comes to showcasing his emotions, which is why he asks Fuji, who is the only one to witness his smile, to keep it secret.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
strengthsdetermined - Tezuka is very, very good at staying focused. When he devotes himself to a goal he devotes himself completely, and will overcome all obstacles in order to achieve it (including himself).
disciplined - Distractions and fooling around come second to him, as he is kind of a business person. He understands his limitations and what is necessary to be successful, and he is amazingly good at overcoming his own faults.
cautious - tezuka's 'catch-phrase' is pretty much "don't let your guard down", which says a lot about what kind of person he is. Tezuka isn't one to suddenly become at ease because he accomplished something, which means he's also incredibly hard to catch by surprise.
weaknessesdetermination bordering on recklessness - For Tezuka, this is both a weakness and a strength. He's constantly putting himself in harm's way in order to overcome his own limitations and succeed in accomplishing his goals. Despite his caution, he can be incredibly reckless.
blunt - Tezuka can be a little (very) off-putting for some people, but he tends to attract people anyway. he's incredibly serious and, as a result, can come off as haughty, arrogant, or incredibly confident.
himself - for tezuka, his greatest obstacle is himself. because he tries so hard and sacrifices so much, losses can hit him rather hard. he's not the flawless, towering captain that he acts like.

First Person Sample: [the feed begins with a small crackle, and then an 'absooolll'. the image comes on soon after:]
Are you ready? [yes, there it is. a clearing. on one side: an absol. on the other side, a man. a grown man? who knows.] This exercise will help your accuracy.
[ah, there it is. there's a ball in the other man's hand, along with a tennis racket. the absol has it's head raise high, the blade on its head poised for impact.]
Come. [and then the man hits the ball. when it flies through the air, the absol hits it back. and then its returned. this goes on for a few more shots.
will... they ever stop?
probably not. oh, wait, no, there it is. the absol seems to have miscalculated something, as the ball's not returning to her trainer and is instead... moving...
... towards the pokegear. the static? it's most likely proof of an impact.]
Third Person Sample: The whole concept of a Pokemon journey wasn't a challenge that Tezuka had shied away from. He woke up in Johto with an objective given to him, and, for all intents and purposes, it was most likely something that was necessary to get home. If given the option to leave, he would--it was an obvious option. But it wasn't an option he was given at the moment. It's that thought that makes Tezuka focused on the journey. The objective was placed in front of him, and it seemed to be the only option.
So he took that opportunity the same way he took every other opportunity. Seriously.
With that background story done, we move to Tezuka's current schedule:
1 TRAINING
2 REST
3 TRAINING
He's currently somewhere in between one and two, working beside his new Absol. He hadn't been incredibly shocked with the introduction of the Pokemon--he accepted her as she was given to him--and he had come to terms with the fact that she was (with no better words to describe it) a magical talking animal.
But back to training.
The current situation: two eyes, gleaming from the grass.
Tezuka begins the battle with a throw of his Pokeball. Precise, careful, accurate. No hesitation, quick and easy. The Absol that comes out from the red light is almost as serious as he is, staring at the monster in the green blades with an intensity that almost matches her trainer's.
"Don't let your guard down," he instructs, though Tezuka knows that it isn't necessary to let his Absol know that. He had trained her well, after all, and he had confidence in her skills. They were partners, and partners did not doubt each other. Trust as teammates--a necessity, and Tezuka knows this well.
When the wild Pokemon steps out from the grass, his gaze stays the same. His Pokemon shows no reaction. For them, all obstacles were met with the same amount of effort, and nothing was underestimated.
"Get ready," Tezuka manages to say, as the Absol paws the grass. He's observing the wild Pokemon's moves, carefully, waiting for its move... When he sees its safe, he tells his own to attack.
A rush. The Absol moves toward...
The Rattata.
