I read it!! And good luck, Carter, with graduation. I know I wish so much to be out of school, but at the same time slack off in my classes and put myself behind in work because I think on some level I'm trying to lengthen the time until I have to be a real "adult."
I don't think that the world will ever be perfect, or that people will do what they want successfully without the barriers of society, but I have a feeling our generation's children will be hippies. (Which is quite possibly a much scarier thought) I think that soon, our country is going to "snap" from all of this sensoring of words and political correctness and, hopefully, will be somewhat restored to the basic rights we were founded on. In the very least, if this doesn't happen, I'll join you in your castle-building endeavors. As long as we have a moat, I'm fine.
I've reluctantly come to except that the world will always be flawed in many ways, but as for becoming a hippy, well... The only two things I have in common with hippies is long hair and a large dissatisfaction with the current establishment. Otherwise, I prefer to bathe daily, eat meat, protest violently, and avoid marijuana, tie-dye, organic foods, and political opposition expressed through song, poetry, or any other form of art, but that's several other issues I'd rather save for another time
( ... )
Oh my God, you posted! and what a post it is. By and large, you know I agree with what you're saying. I think we had a conversation all of this the other day. I need to figure out how to get music off of Pandora, I know you told me once, but I forgot since I stopped using it since it kept playing the same damn songs on me. Oh well, I'll figure it out later.
Yeah... I know we see eye to aye-aye on most of this stuff, and I find much comfort in the knowledge that only most of the world is idiotic. To people like you, me, and most of the rest of my friends this stuff is more or less obvious, or at the very least much easier to see than how everyone else misses it completely and how they can manage to achieve such levels of stupidity. As for Pandora, the method I use now is kind of troublesome and roundabout, but it gets the job done, and the songs are properly labeled unlike my older, lazier method, which gave me lots of songs labeled as other songs... I'll show you sometime if you'd prefer.
I read it. I was delighted by the use of "hoi polloi." It's a word that should be used more often.
You should have taken my route and then you'd still have a semester of school left of nothing but general electives. It's going to be awesome to find out how a non-engineering major lives for a semester. heh
