Shortly after DH became a SAHD, he expressed an interest in taking up handguns as a hobby. I strongly felt that he needed a hobby that would bring him in contact with other adults so while it wasnt my first choice, I aquiesced. There was one condition - I wanted a gun safe to keep firearms from little fingers, to which he readily agreed.

My beloved sister, UUFG, recently attended the Quail Hollow Craft Fair. She was demonstrating Spinning on a lap-held spinning wheel as part of her Guild. For those of us who have only seen giant wheels on Disney-fied versions of fairy tales, this thing was a marvel of ingenuity and miniaturization.

Hurricane Report
"Argh! Hurricane!" DH was making fun of me. To be fair, on Friday I was not panicked. But since everyone around me was panicking, I decided to get in on the action. At a birthday party Saturday, one parent reported that they received a robocall from their mayor urging them to action.

Job Market Summary
Just came from an interview.* They had 200 applications in ONE DAY for a 0.4 position. That's what the job market is like, folks.
And my unemployment has been reduced from 93 weeks to 75 "because of the improvement in the local economy."
Meh!

My mother in law is a widow. My mother in law is also gifted with 6 children - 5 of whom live nearby. She is a “traditional” housewife, so there are certain things she doesnt do. Banana Blueberry Grapenut Muffins
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cup white flour
1 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup grapenuts cereal
3 bananas mashed
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
2 tbsp oil
1/2 pint blueberries
Preheat oven to 375. Mix wet ingredients in a large bowl: milk, grape nuts, bananas, egg & oil . Put dry ingredients in a sifter: flours, sugar, baking powder & salt. ( Read more... )
