I think you're being unfair. Plenty of things in Lost do resolve. Remember The Monster crashing about in the trees? There were plenty of theories as to what it was: some said it was a dinosaur, some a robot, a few even thought it was a triffid. The script writers said we'd all got it wrong, that the answer would be revealed eventually, and that we'd get a resolution if we'd only wait -- they were true to their word.
It was an underground-dwelling-whispering-smoke-monster-which-can-see-into-people's-thoughts-and-project-those-thoughts-back-at-them-except-it's-not-really-a-smoke-monster-as-such-as-smoke-can't-in-the-normal-course-of-events-pick-people-up-and-murder-them-and-stuff.
