This video is wonderful...very special. I think the most important thing is to stress the love that you feel for your special child and that he feels for you, because it is like no other. Those of us who have had 'typical' children know the joys and heartaches that come with that sort of parenting too, but there is something much deeper and involving in taking care of a child with special needs and the love you feel for that child also goes much deeper somehow. Sure, I have been through the teenage years when my daughter hated me and called me every name in the book while going through a horrible stage that I don't think Sean will ever go through. It made me feel a little bitterness about her that still stays with me when I remember those days and you know what? I much prefer these days when I am helping Sean tie his shoes because at age 11 he cannot do it himself. Or lending him my laptop because he can type much better than he can hold a pencil and write. He makes me feel needed and useful, and fulfills some need of mine while ( ... )
