D&D

Turns out I am a True Neutral Gnome Wizard.

Sounds about right, except for the gnome part. I hadn't noticed I was particularly short, but I guess everything is relative. ;-)

How about you - what kind of D&D character would you be?

Hey, it could have been worse - you could have been a Lawful Good Human Warrior!! (Huh, I forgot to write down my level. Now we don't know if we can set out on a quest together. *g*)

ETA: 5th level! Sure, it should work out. :-) Just don't step on me!!

Looks like - but I don't know how I became a gnome! I would prefer to be something interesting and not so wrinkly and easy to step on. ;-)

The first question was about appearance, did you maybe pick "ugly, I am the worst looking member of my social circle."? Other than that I can't remember a question that could have influenced race.

Nope, that can't be it - and I am actually very tall, which I also told the test. :-) I suspect it's the fact that gnomes are evidently interested in science, technology, logic and things like that. At least, that's the only thing I can think of!

Dexterity-12

Constitution-13

Intelligence-14

Wisdom-14

Charisma-13

Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a ( ... )

A ranger/wizard! Wow, you're the first almost entirely (or at least slightly) non-wizard character! :-)

It's been a little while for me - and the only time I played D&D was with a group that didn't mesh well with me and ellensmithee, whom I'd roped into playing with me.* I'd really like to roleplay again, too, whether it's D&D or any other system. Finding the right group is tricky, though!

*(Just as an example, I played a bisexual male character, which so irritated the GM that she hit me with a miracle to change my character's gender. She then attempted to tell me how shocked I was that I was suddenly attracted to *men*, eeeeek, gasp, and I told her very casually that actually, that part wasn't new, since I'd always been attracted to both men and women. She just blinked at me in consternation. *g*)

LOL! That must be it - clearly, I am an adopted gnome. It will be quite a shock when I find out!

Does that make me the athletic nerd, I wonder...? ^^

That sounds just sad. Clearly not a DM that knew her group. If not narrow minded (although your story makes me think that was the case), then at least sloppy on the read up of the characters in the game. We were lucky in our first game and had a DM who could really set the mood and was an amazing storyteller. It never really picked up again after he quit.
Did you guys play irl or on skype (or something like that)? I've been thinking about contacting some of my old group. It's so difficult since people live far apart now and are busy, but I'm thinking maybe online could be an option. Have never tried it though so I'm curious how it would work.

(I've missed you btw. Sorry for not being in touch!)

Yeah, I do think she (and the other players, except me and ellensmithee) were a bit narrow-minded; to me it seemed like an odd kind of unworldly conservatism. They just hadn't been exposed to liberal ideas much, and weren't clever enough to be more open-minded without outside help ( ... )
