Guardian has really spoiled me! I find that I am now unreasonably irritated when shows don't give me the intense emotional connection(s) that I want to see... or only in tiny little doses.
Or when they don't give the right characters enough love.
YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG. Do better, show. Be like Guardian.
Hmmph. ;-)

I've seen a number of people talk about Longmire over the years! They are clearly doing something very right, too. :-)

I have been in other fandoms since, Torchwood and Doctor Who, Arrow and most recently Gotham, and I loved them all equally at the time, but only now that I am in The Orville community I realize what I have been missing all those years and it feels like coming home. A show where each of the team members feels like family, and a bit of humor mixed in. And no toxic fandom, everyone is so nice and wonderful and supporting to each other. I'm very happy I gave this show a chance. It's nice to be at the start of a hopefully long running fandom for a change instead of coming in 50 years late and trying to catch up ( ... )

The Orville is a very original and smart (as well as fun and funny) show! I entirely understand why you are so taken with it. :-)

I did like Sherlock (at least the early seasons), but read only one or two fanfics at the time and was never a member of a fangroup, discussing all the details. I came more from a love for the classic Sherlock Holmes and when that more and more vanished into the background I became interested less.
I'm watching Star Trek: Voyager right now for the first time ever, and after a certain episode (I hear it's the same for everyone LOL) I started to seek for fanfictions and right now I am in Heaven, trying to read all at once. And already wrote two myself. And started to buy action figures... This won't end well. Yes, the ultimate measurement is whether or not I want to buy figures.
In a way, The Orville is responsible for that too. I have watched TOS some years ago but never felt much of an urge to get ( ... )
