-shrinks into a corner-

Hey, now... I still like my Vampire Chronicles :3

I've been wanting to read more books in the distopian genre - I've only recently realised how much that genre fascinated me. I never had a name or organised way of categorising it before.

The Handmaid's Tale is fantastic - I read it about a year ago and made my dad and sister read it. xD And I just finished reading Brave New World for AP Literature yesterday... oh my god! I didn't realise how much I would fall in love with that book. ♥♥♥ Aldous Huxley is an author I'd particularly love to look into, although my time to read is limited - do you have any recommendations? :D

Oh god nooo! Anne Rice lost it a bit after Queen of the damned. her later novels were a joke. then she became all religious and rediculous...nope, I can safely say they are crap. But Lestat will always have a special place in my heart, sigh...

Yes! Dystopian literature is the best!! Look it up on wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dystopian_literature

and it will give you a list of excellent novels to read, I want to read We by Yevgeny Zamyatin, which is considered the grandaddy of 1984!

I'm so glad you like Aldous Huxley! You should read A Clock Work Orange, and Battale Royale, awesome novels!

Admittedly I became a little disappointed once she entered her 'only writing for Jesus' stage; while I completely respect her personal decisions in the matter, the aspect of her books that I loved - that spark of questioning, of doubt, and of passion - was essentially lost. I also began reading them as a curious and frustrated 14-year-old, full of my own questions after finding no answers in the Baptist church, so perhaps I'm just viewing them that way due to personal experience...?

Memnoch the Devil was actually quite wonderful, I think. I don't know if you're read it, but I'd highly recommend it. ♥

I'm looking at the list, and I'm surprised by how many things are considered 'dystopian'! I know I likely sound uneducated saying it... I'm a work in progress in terms of widening my literary horizons. I just need to find the time and patience to read more often! :D

A Clockwork Orange - another novel on my as-yet unwritten list of 'Things to Read'. :]
