Go. Be with your family. You sound desperately unhappy in London. And a year is a whole year of your life you could be spending somewhere you're happier.

You have no idea how tempted I am to just pack up and leave, but I am torn between Australia and leaving Javier, I can't leave him, because he wants to move to Australia too. We just have to wait another 3 years, basically until he finalises his UK residency and passport.

What if the two of you get married, would he not get to go to Australia with you on a marriage visa?

I agree with the above person. You might think that a year would fly by, possibly it would if you were having a brilliant time, but if you long to be somewhere else and you're miserable/ill all the time it will feel like forever.

I am caught between a hard place and rock, I want to leave so badly but it would mean leaving my partner and I am just not prepared to do that :o(, big fat sigh.

Seriously Australia is doing so well right now, and who knows how long it will last? It looks like it'll last for a long while though, the mining boom is exploding! Right now Australia has a multi billion dollar deal with China to supply all their gas (I think it's gas, again don't quote me). So it's just crazy with work right now!
