Remicade um...wearing off?

Jul 10, 2011 16:25

Brief history: I'm 33 with endo, RA and likely Lupus (my Rheumy is still figuring that one out but the RA is certain). I was diagnosed in October of 2010 after many many years and BS. I started on 20 of prednisone and 500 of sulfasalazine twice a day. I worked up to 1500 of sulfasalazine a day plus Humira twice a month, then Humira once a week. ( Read more... )

Do you use Facebook? If so, check out the RA Chicks community! There are tons of people who may be able to answer your question. You can also message the moderator and she can post her own message asking for help (which may get more comment attention).

I was on Remicade for about 10 years .You need to talk to your rheumatologist about this. It is normal for the Remicade to "wear off" after a time, but the dosing interval and amount can be adjusted to minimize the impact of that "wearing off".

However, you said your first infusion was July 1st and your next one is "the 15th" - July 15th or August 15th? My experience with Remicade is with RA only, but with just RA, while on Remicade, infusion intervals tend to be 6 to 8 weeks, not 2 weeks. This was the case even with my initial infusions.

Depending on your wants, you may want to give your doc a call and let them know how you're feeling. They will have commentary more specific to your situation.

it was my very first one & apparently I'll do one on July 15th, then another a month later and then go to every 6-8 weeks or so. I also see my doc right after my infusion on July 15th so I'll be able to fill her in, just wanted to get some "oh yeah, I've been there too" perspective :)

For me the Remicade does wear off it seems like about a week before the next infusion. We've changed dosages and intervals and it still happens. Don't know why, but it does.

I'm glad it's not just me! All things considered, I could handle a week of not feeling so hot if the rest of the time I felt like I did last week :)
