I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. Egos on both sides seems to be the biggest issue here. Feelings of, "well if that's how they're going to be then fuck them!" I've been on both sides, even came close to getting hit by a cop who was running a red light, then had the balls to stop and yell at me (I respectfully told him to go fuck himself and not run red lights when a cyclist was lawfully crossing the intersection). It all seems so stupid and easily avoided, but I don't see an end in sight.
I think, after recent events, we should all get together, make huge amounts of tea, and hang out under a massive quilt for at least three days.

I almost got run over by a cyclist in the crosswalk once, but knew it was my fault for not being aware.
I think you're right. It's a cooperative thing, everyone has to do their share.
