I've been half-following the DreamWidth highs and lows recently. Honestly, because all of fandom seems to be here (by which I mean the comms as well as the fans) I can't imagine moving. I have no particular love for LJ itself, just the people here.

And the news that Dreamwidth can't/aren't ever thinking they'll be able to import comms (for entirely understandable reasons) mean I guess I shall just stay here. Unless LJ does ACTUALLY implode one day, in which case I shall follow everyone else.

I am interested to see how a small volunteer force copes with 'going live' though, and if it all works out. I hope it does.

It's kind of sad to see this happening. Since Dreamwidth seems to be such a exclusive community it doesn't look like most of us will get to see folks that used to be here anymore. I know everyone says that they'll still be here but eventually it will become to much and people will float away and then the ones of us that can't go to DW will be left with holes where our friends used to be. It's just sad, but I'm very happy that you got the invite and I hope you have loads of fun :)

::hugs:: No, I'm really not going anywhere, hon, though to be fair, it's not like I ever post anything here either. I only really use LJ as a reading list these days, and that won't change as long as there are still things here to read. I bought a permanent account on LJ a couple of years back, so as long as there are people here, so will I be! The only reason I got interested in Dreamwidth in the first place was their much, much longer posting limits, which lets me post longer stories without having to split them up into 4000 parts... They'll all still be archived here! I'm pretty much just bet-hedging at this point :-)

The price is just to steep at this economic time to get in on something like this for me. I can post over 8000 before I have to split mine but I'll usually split before then when I find a good stopping point. I wonder if they'll ever change it here.

That's good to know, it just feels like everyone is leaving and it makes me sad, of course like I said in my edit it's probably the drugs :)

I didn't mean introverted. I couldn't find the word I was looking for but it was exclusive, it finally came to me. It's the Codeine in my cough medicine. I swear it is. :O

I think I'm one of the last to hear about DW, posts have appeared and it seems like I've popped in half way through and I've had no idea what's going on! But, sounds interesting, I'm watching, seeing what other folks are doing and will be wherever my friends are! I still don't know much about it, but it looks good and if it does what it says on the tin I'm all for it. Can't hurt, can it? It might keep some organisations on their toes as well if there's competition!
