London's burning...

I live just over half a mile from Croydon town centre and the area that was set alight by the rioters last night. There's nothing happened very near where I live, but on the high street what they didn't set alight they smashed up and looted, and apparently the local retail park, which is also about half a mile from me in a different direction has ( Read more... )

Sending you tons of love. I've been thinking about you all morning - just logged in now at lunchtime at work, and I'm glad to see you've posted. What a total crappy mess the whole thing is xxxxx

I'm glad you're safe! I was in Los Angeles during the post-Rodney King riots and it was very scary even though I personally was safe.

I hope they catch and jail the thugs and that the good people of Croydon come together and help the community heal.

Echoing everyone that I'm happy you and your mother are safe. The pictures are terrible. I hope the police track those thugs down and give them what they deserve.

The news had a photo of a woman jumping from a building with flames behind her. Truly scary.

Thanks for letting us know that you're safe. Terrible for the people who have been trapped in the middle of it, though, and those poor souls who have lost everything in the fires.

What is wrong with people today? Where is all this terrible anger coming from? Whether it's riots or the willful, malicious intransigence in the US Congress, there is terrible anger and spitefulness growing all around us, and that's very scary.

I hope the government and police bring things under control very soon, and I hope those who did the most damage or who are bragging about it through social media sites are caught. Not the brightest bulbs, though, are they, to be bragging in public posts.

::hugs::

Thank goodness you are okay. I've been thinking about you all day - and you have nothing to be ashamed of.

I could say so much more, but ultimately it comes down to letting the Police do their thing without having to pussyfoot around, lock 'em up for a long time and make them pay for the rebuilding and restocking. Then we need National Service to teach 'em some respect and discipline. Nice to know that they are thick enough to convict themselves via social networking!

::hugs you lots::
Keep safe.
