Then there is Rosa, who begins to take an emotional interest in the bald wizard. Her fiery Italian temperament, outspoken opinion, and pointed observations of Noah’s life provide an unwelcome distraction.

Heaven and Hell ultimately gather for a showdown with Selkines’ body as the battlefield, but Selkines is shocked at the depth of her own capacity to love when Erasmus selflessly enters the conflict for her sake.
