Language and provocation

I do agree with you on this subject. It is my belief that Social security is a safety net for people who have, due to situtions beyond there control got into a financal situation and need tempory help.
It is not a career choice as some see it. they should be maded to go to collge, litter pick or what ever to either make arrangements for improving their chances of work or earn there keep.

I know - many people I know (including myself) have, at some point, had to rely on the safety net of the welfare system. It just really pisses me off that some people see it as a permanent support system. For some it's not entirely their fault - the person I was speaking to was brought up by a mother who never worked and never pushed her children to think about getting jobs either. One of the generation who have very little concept of the world of work.

Martin and I were also discussing that these people will never have had the excitement of their first pay packet either. You know that feeling when you get your hands on the money and know that you have earned it all by yourself. Such a shame they will never know what that independence feels like.
